The City of Berkeley is currently accepting applications for Economic Development Manager in the Office of Economic Development.
The Manager of Economic Development has overall responsibility for the direction and administration of the City’s economic development programs. The incumbent is responsible for formulating and recommending both short and long term policies, developing goals and objectives, supervising a small staff, developing the budget, and developing a strong public relationship with the economic community, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, academic and business institutions, as well as entrepreneurial and civic groups. Responsibilities require a high degree of administrative discretion in their execution.

Qualifications and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major work in public or business administration, economics, urban planning or a closely related field and
Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible planning and administrative experience in economic development, including the successful implementation of large projects. Lead or supervisory experience and experience with publicly funded programs and citizen groups is desirable
This classification is excluded from the career service and the incumbent will hold an at-will appointment.
