The City of Marysville (population 12,200) is a unique and charming city located in Yuba County and part of the Greater Sacramento area. The City is seeking a nimble, imaginative and strategic leader to effectively direct its new Community Development and Services Department. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, service-minded individual with a business friendly, customer service work ethic. He or she will be a self-starter, looking to build effective working relationships in the business community and with development professionals and investors. The new director will have the opportunity to hit the ground running and make a contribution in a charming small town actively planning for its future. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of how land use policies support business growth and help broaden the local tax base; someone with public speaking skills who is comfortable interacting with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job is qualifying. These employment standards would typically be achieved by graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in City or Regional Planning, Public or Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a related field, and have at least five (5) years of broad and extensive experience directly involving municipal services such as current and advance planning, architectural and design review, building inspection, code compliance, economic development and business retention, parks management, traffic engineering and street maintenance, including at least four (4) years of project management and supervision of others engaged in such work. The annual salary for the Director of Community Development and Services is up to $116,928 along with a very generous benefits package.
