Koreatown / Northgate

First Friday Fun

This neighborhood is centered along Telegraph Avenue roughly between 20th and 35th Streets.  It is bounded by Broadway and Interstates 580 and 880.  Small restaurants, ethnic markets, and beauty shops line Telegraph, while the streets radiating outward contain art galleries and residences.

The automobile and medical industries are well represented in this area.  Broadway between 27th and 40th Streets is also known as Auto Row.  Many major car dealerships and repair shops are located along Broadway and the surrounding streets.  The Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and other health services and pharmacies are located in Pill Hill.

This neighborhood is the place to be on the first Friday of each month.  The Art Murmur started as a monthly night of late art gallery openings.  Telegraph between Grand Avenue and 27th Street is closed to vehicular traffic for a street fair including artists, craft vendors, music stages, and food stands and trucks.

How to get to Koreatown / Northgate:

  • By bus and on foot: From downtown, take the free Broadway “B” Shuttle.  Continue to stroll northward.
