City of Berkeley – Senior Planner

The City of Berkeley is hiring a Senior Planner in the Land Use Planning Division’s Policy Group. The Policy Group is responsible for developing long range plans and policies that will shape Berkeley’s future. The ideal candidate will have a wide range of planning experience that includes a technical understanding of State and local land use regulations.

Additionally, the Senior Planner will have experience in initiating land use plans and policies, innovative research and analysis, and engagement with a diverse community. The Senior Planner will be responsible for managing complex and large projects, including but not limited to General Plan updates, plans focused on Berkeley’s Priority Development Areas, Zoning Ordinance amendments, grant-funded projects, and State-mandated reports and projects. The ideal candidate has a bachelors or masters degree in City Planning (or related field), a deep understanding of planning practices, excellent communication skills, and a keen interest in municipal planning and public service.
