The Town of Portola Valley is seeking a motivated planning professional to join the team. The successful candidate will join a dynamic staff that works closely with the Town Council to advance Council’s priorities for the Town. The Senior Planner will be the day-to-day manager for the Town’s Housing Element Update. The Town’s Regional Housing Needs Allocation is significantly higher than previous Housing Element cycles and the Town is undertaking an extensive community engagement process to plan for future housing needs. The Housing Element Update process will be grounded in discussions about safety; the San Andreas Fault runs through Town and wildfire safety is a critical priority.

Planner II and III performs a variety of responsible professional planning duties in the field of current and advance planning; prepares, processes and presents environmental analysis reports, reviews technical reports, conducts zoning research, and prepares findings and planning agenda items; disseminates zoning/regulatory and permitting process information to the public and provides assistance to the public and developers on complex planning matters; and, as assigned, performs business process analysis and oversees interdepartmental permitting coordination and ensures the efficiency of the Department’s permit tracking systems.
We are seeking a mid-level environmental planner/analyst to assist with the preparation of the full range of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documents and associated work products. The individual chosen for this position will work collaboratively with Dudek’s environmental team throughout northern California (with offices in Sacramento, Auburn, Oakland, and Santa Cruz) on a wide variety of projects including infill development, institutional, medical, commercial, water/wastewater, renewable energy, transportation, residential and mixed-use projects.
