YEP Group returns to support young and emerging planners

Since 2010, APA California Northern Section’s Young and Emerging Planners Group (YEP) has worked to provide emerging professionals and students in planning-related fields with opportunities to engage socially and professionally with other professionals in the Northern California region.

We want to hear from you! The feedback in this survey will help guide the development of future events, including a kick-off happy hour in the coming months.

YEP works to cultivate young professionals through career-building programs, social networking events, and mentoring opportunities. Some of our past events have included:

  • Networking Happy Hours,
  • Career Panels and Office Tours,
  • Resume Clinics, and
  • AICP Prep Information Sessions.

We have also strengthened our partnerships with other related groups and collaborated on different events with the Bay Area Planning Directors Association, Cal’s Planning Student Association, SJSU’s Urban Planning Coalition, Young Professionals in Transportation, ASLA’s Emerging Professionals, and more. We have even had featured articles in the Northern News (local section newsletter) and Planning News (APA National magazine).

To further support YEP, we are identifying a subcommittee to help with organizing and executing YEP events. If you are interested in participating as a subcommittee member, please express your interest here and we will reach out with next steps.
