The Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI) is updating California’s General Plan, Specific Plan, and Tribal Consultation Guidelines (collectively known as the Planning Guidelines). This update will provide essential tools and resources that guide how communities plan for growth, resilience, and inclusion. We need your expertise and experience to ensure that the Planning Guidelines reflect California’s diverse planning needs. There are two opportunities to participate in the near future:
- Attend a Regional Workshop. During the regional workshops, the LCI team will provide an update on the guidelines and a summary of the ideas generated thus far in the engagement process. Participants will be divided into groups to provide feedback and suggestions on how the Planning Guidelines can be tailored to the specific needs of California’s diverse community sizes, levels of staff capacity, and political climate. There will be three regional workshops. Please select and register for the one that works best for your schedule.

- Attend an APA California 2025 Conference session on the LCI Planning Guidelines Update. The LCI Planning Guidelines team will be holding General Plan and Specific Plan sessions at this year’s conference in Monterey in late September. There will be a double session on the General Plan Guidelines and one session on the Specific Plan Guidelines. These workshops will focus on collecting more feedback for the LCI Planning Guidelines content. The sessions appear on the APA California 2025 Conference schedule as
