Are you interested in helping to promote diversity and equity initiatives and programs (consistent with our APA and AICP Code of Ethics)? Do you have a passion for helping to make all members of the communities we serve feel included? Then you will be interested in our opening for a Diversity Co-Director on the Board. In this role, you will be responsible for providing input to the Northern Board related to the needs of Planners of Color, Students of Color, and marginalized communities within Northern; organizing educational meetings and workshops for members around the issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity; and contributing articles on these topics to the Communications Team for distribution among Northern’s various communication channels. In addition, you will help maintain the diversity email listserv, attend regular meetings with the APA California Diversity Chair, and help shape the Diversity Summit that occurs during the APA California annual conference.

Are you based in the South Bay—Santa Clara or San Mateo Counties—and looking to get involved? Join us in organizing local events and activities! As a South Bay Co-Coordinator, you’ll be the key connection between Northern and our area members, ensuring their voices are heard by the Board. You’ll help plan meetings and workshops, support professional development alongside the Professional Development Director, and host social gatherings to foster community and networking among Northern members.

For appointed positions, you must be an APA member with current/paid-up membership and reside or practice planning within APA California – Northern (Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Monterey, Napa, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma counties).
