Kate Christopherson
Kate Christopherson, AICP is a transportation planner working to improve mobility and accessibility through equitable, collaborative, and sustainable approaches. Since 2022, she has been on the Operations Planning & Scheduling team at the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). Kate manages short-term planning projects, such as the implementation of SamTrans’ on-demand microtransit service (Ride Plus) in 2023 and the agency’s route and scheduling refresh project (Reimagine SamTrans) in 2024, in addition to reviewing and reporting out performance metrics and conducting outreach and fieldwork.
Prior to SamTrans, Kate gained experience at Kimley-Horn’s San Jose office and in the Midwest at the Chicago Transit Authority, Madison Metro, and Metro Transit (Minneapolis-Saint Paul). She holds a Master’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science & International Studies from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Kate is based in Santa Clara County and works in San Mateo County, so she is very familiar with the South Bay. In her free time, she enjoys the many biking and hiking trails in the region, watching women’s sports, reading, and traveling with her husband.
