The PEN Oral History Project celebrates California’s trailblazing planners with annually updated interviews—14 inspiring conversations are already online, with five more debuting by November. These interviews are shared statewide with planning students and professionals, archived at CSUN, and help shape the evolving legacy of planning. Nominate outstanding planners for the 2026 interviews!

APA California’s VP for Policy and Legislation, Technical Advisors and Chapter Lobbyist presented an extended Legislative Update Session in Monterey, featuring Assemblymember Buffy Wicks. Governor’s actions on 2025 bills are pending until October 13; slides from the conference are now available.

The Fall 2025 AICP Certification process is here! Transfer your exam by November 24; take the exam between November 3–30. Submit your education, work experience, and assessment December 1–31, 2025. After passing, apply with your documents and planning experience. Helpful resources include the AICP Planning Experience Assessment Worksheet and Certification Maintenance FAQs are also available.

The California Planning Roundtable and APA California offer a six-month online Leadership Academy for planners with at least five years of experience. Registration is open until 12/5/2025 for up to 100 participants. Fee: $120, including CliftonStrengths assessment.
