In October 2024, APA California–Northern issued a call for nominations for two elected positions, Director-Elect and Administrative Director, beginning January 1, 2025. The Nominating Committee received one nomination for each position. Because the nominations were deemed complete and valid by the Committee and neither were contested, per the By-Laws, the two positions may be filled by acclamation. Northern’s Board confirmed this acclamation at its meeting on November 21, 2024, and is pleased to welcome Jeff Bond, AICP, and Adrienne Mau, AICP, to their new roles as Director-Elect and Administrative Director!
Jeff Bond, AICP, who has been Northern’s Ethics Review Director since 2023, will assume the role of Director-Elect. He is the Community Development Director for the City of Albany. As Director-Elect, Jeff looks forward to assisting with the California APA Conference in Monterey and sees it as an opportunity to showcase our work and network with other members. He also looks forward to maintaining the momentum of Northern’s ongoing activities, such as the annual Awards Gala, Regional Activity Coordinator events, and Mentorship Program. Above all, he believes Northern must embrace every opportunity to advance social equity and justice in our communities.
I firmly believe that our work as planners is more crucial than ever, and I look forward to ensuring Northern Section membership is valuable.
Adrienne Mau, AICP, has served as Northern’s Diversity Co-Director since March 2023 and will assume the Administrative Director role. She is a Transportation Planner at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. As Administrative Director, Adrienne aims to provide insights and opportunities to expand our membership reach with topics that resonate with our members’ interests and career development needs. She is also committed to fostering inclusive dialogue and ensuring that all voices are heard in our processes.
I am thrilled to step into the role as Administrative Director on the APA California Northern Section Board. Since joining this vibrant group in March 2023 as Diversity Co-Director, I have been deeply inspired by the dedication and passion of my colleagues and fellow APA members. Together, we have made a significant impact across our Section’s cities and counties, and I am eager to continue this important work in a leadership role.
Much gratitude is owed to outgoing Director Michael Cass, who will continue on the Board as Past Director and will also serve as Conference Co-Chair for the 2025 California Planning Conference in Monterey; outgoing Administrative Director Veronica Flores, who has served in this role with great distinction since 2019, and Director-Elect Libby Tyler, FAICP, who will take over as Northern’s Director.
