Empowering Culture in Our Cities
Directed by Camille Servan-Schreiber and produced by California Humanities, the 14-minute video recounts the two learning expeditions organized in Oakland and Saint-Denis in October and November 2019. This inspiring documentary beautifully highlights the strength and vitality of the two cities and its inhabitants as well as their capacity and willingness to change things for the better.
Black Joy StoryWindows: A Curated Art Walk In Downtown Oakland
In response to the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 regulations and restrictions on indoor gatherings and events, StoryWindows is an effort to create a safe outdoor, walkable, multimedia storefront gallery experience in the heart of downtown Oakland. You will also see the installation of All Power to All People, a one-of-a-kind monument that sparked meaningful conversations nationwide for the past several years. It will be installed in Latham Square and serve as the epicenter of our StoryWindows launch.
Supporting Future Planners
In addition to fostering dialogue around arts and urban planning, the event will feature a silent auction benefiting the California Planning Foundation. Proceeds from the auction will provide scholarships to students from backgrounds underrepresented in the planning field, supporting the next generation of planners in their educational endeavors. If you would like to donate items for auction, please see the Call for Donations.
