This position involves leading project teams to develop innovative plans and solutions for public, private, and non-profit clients. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that provides land use and policy planning, urban design, and community engagement services. Typical projects may include general plans, specific plans, downtown plans, streetscapes, and campus master plans.

The Planner II position is located in the Planning Department of the Community Development Agency in Hayward. Incumbents work on less difficult planning projects under the supervision of a Senior Planner or assist a Planner III with a major planning project. Under direction, the Senior Transportation Planner supervises professional planners, support staff and consultants, carries out activities that provide direction for future transportation services and improvements, and identifies and secures transportation funds.This is the first supervisory level involving responsibility for a major functional area.
